Deen Intensive Weekend Away Retreat

Kangaroo Valley - Friday, January 19th to Sunday 21st, 2007

FAIR presents a Deen Intensive 2 day weekend workshop following the Covenant Keepers series with renowned scholar Naeem Abdul Wali (Gary Edwards) on the topic of Fear and Hope.

This is a unique opportunity to bring about knowledge of your faith in a relaxing and peaceful environment.

What is a Deen Intensive?

A Deen Intensive is series of sessions focused around a central topic (in this case the Book of Fear and Hope) The core idea is to promote traditional knowledge (through classical texts) and traditional methods of teaching

Who can attend?

The workshops are open to both men and women, although classes and activites will be segregated. If you would like to bring your family, you're welcome, but please register early so we can book special accommodation for you,

We encourage interstate participants.

What's the topic?

The course will focus on one of the most important books of Ghazali's Ihya Ulum al-Din: The Book of Fear and Hope A commentary of relevant verses in the Ihya will be examined along with the relevance of the material to us and our covenant with God.

Where is it?

Kangaroo Valley is in the Southern Highlands about 2 hours from Sydney. Coach transport will be provided for those that indicate on the registration form that they require it. Driving instructions will be provided in the information pack for registrants.

What do I need to bring?

This will be provided in the information pack that will be given to all those who register. At this stage you should probably be prepared to bring sheets or sleeping bags, swimming gear, sports shoes and casual clothes.

What's the Program

Friday 19th

Arrive 5pm settle in to accommodation

7.30pm dinner and informal gathering in conference room trivia night

Saturday 20th

Morning: Bushwalk, Session 1

Afternoon: Session 2, Bushwalk/Swimming/Horse-Riding

Evening: Discussion with a special quest speaker

Sunday 21st: Remaining sessions finish around 4pm. Free time/packing afterwards.

Places are limited - there is only accommodation for 40.
